Scotland, Scottish Borders, Newcastleton. Newcastleton is a fine example of an 18th century planned village, located in the picturesque Liddesdale. Designed to a plan by William Keir of Whithaugh for the third Duke of Buccleuch, the streets and squares of the town are all based around a grid system offering ample open spaces.
